First-time home buyers guide
STEP 1: START YOUR HOME SEARCH HERE.
The listing search on our home page offers buyers access to every property in the area’s MLS, so there's no need to visit multiple websites to find your dream home! Our search tools ensure you're seeing the most up-to-date pricing and property detail information while allowing you to filter by homes that fit your criteria.
Questions to consider: How much space do you need and why?
STEP 2: WORK WITH A PROFESSIONAL.
Glasshouse Realty Group agents are committed to making the home-buying process as simple and stress-free as possible. Our agents walk first-time buyers through all the steps involved, and happily share their extensive knowledge of area neighborhoods, schools and community amenities. Another bonus for buyers is that they don't pay a dime for our expert services (Real estate estate commissions are typically paid by sellers.)
Questions to consider: Which is more critical: location or size? Is accessibility to main routes a priority?
STEP 3: GET PRE-APPROVED.
Knowing how much house you can afford is a huge advantage in your home search. Obtaining lender pre-approval helps you to narrow your search to homes that fit your budget and shows sellers that you are a serious, qualified buyer. Need recommendations for experienced, reputable lenders? We work with some of the best. Request a recommendation!
Questions to consider: What features are not negotiable in your new property?
STEP 4: FIND YOUR PERFECT PLACE.
Buying a home isn't just about bedrooms and bathrooms: it's also about finding a space that meets your unique lifestyle requirements. Are great schools important? Are you looking for the shortest commute time possible? Do you want to walk to neighborhood shops and restaurants? Fixer upper or move-in ready? These are all important questions to ask when looking for your new home. Once you've found a home you love, the next step is making an offer. It's important to remember that a home is an investment. We can give you information on other properties in the neighborhood to ensure you make an informed decision when it comes to a fair price to offer.
STEP 5: CLOSE ON YOUR NEW HOME.
You've found a home you love, negotiated the price and inspection responses and have an accepted offer. You're in the home stretch! You can keep your closing on track by staying in control of your credit and finances. Do not make any large purchases during this time. It's important to keep your financials steady throughout the buying process. Talk to your financial consultant for guidance. Also, it’s important to stay in constant communication with your agent and financial guide during this process. Be sure to return all phone calls and complete paperwork promptly. Also, don't be afraid to ask questions. We are here to help you!
